Dear Dr. West,

When I was growing up, and in the navy, and later in college, every time I went to a dentist it was pain _ terror _ and no one ever told me what was going on _ they would pick at my teeth (that hurt), stick me with a needle (more hurt), and do their thing. That's why I didn't go to a dentist for about ten years. I broke a tooth on a hot dog and still had to be talked into seeing Dr. West by his receptionist. Guess what?

No pain, and he even talked to me. I couldn't believe it. I didn't know dentists even talked. He explained everything in advance and checked with me constantly during the procedure to make sure I was comfortable and not in pain. During the procedure he would tell me what he was doing so I wouldn't be surprised by the sound of the drill or something else. You've all heard those two terrible words "root canal" _ yuck _ pain!

He explained everything in advance

I was comfortable and not in pain.

Not when Dr. West does them. He did my first root canal in 1973. This is what I experienced. He numbed me with topical, gave me Novocain (did not even feel it), turned on some nice music, and then we were done. Same thing with five crowns and a permanent bridge. Remember, Dr. West had a lot of bad dental history to repair with me. Now I have excellent dental hygiene and great teeth that I will keep forever, thanks to Dr. West.

I also have to give some credit to Penni on the hygiene part.

I came to the West office more than 13 years ago. Always anxious about dental care, I felt comfortable and secure in short order. Staff was always cheerful, pleasant and efficient. I required extensive work over the years. As a vain and aging woman, this was an emotional adjustment. Discussion of choices, methods and expense were clear and straight-forward. When referrals to specialists were required, I found these persons to be of the same caliber.

I believe that the prevailing attitude
is one one of integrity in every sense

I believe that the prevailing attitude is one one of integrity in every sense. Now in northern California I miss the whole group and send good wishes.

Fondly,

P.S. Even as time passes my smile is still admired and nobody knows my secrets but y'all.

Dear Dr. West,

I also have worked in the field of dentistry for twenty-five years, enabling me to experience dentistry both as a dental professional and as a patient. I have learned at the "master's knee", and have been taught to recognize quality, artistry and pride in that which is delivered to a patient.

Unfortunately, and all too often, I have seen patients choose a dentist based on nothing more but proximity to home or work, lower fees or because their insurance company has determined whom they shall see. There is little thought given to the educational background of the doctor and staff, the materials utilized in a procedure, how the margins are finished on a crown, the quality of the work of the dentist or the lab he uses. There is so much more to good dentistry and dental health than most people realize.

At the time that I realized I needed more dental treatment than just my routine prophy, I was working for a reputable dentist in the area. I, the professional, now had to make a decision about what (and who) was best for me, the patient. I could have my employer do the work; it would be convenient and economical. His patients were pleased with his work but I demanded something more for myself in quality and aesthetics.

Rather than just select an acceptable
"standard" shade that would be okay,
you took an extra step and had your
ceramist sit with me to create a custom shade
from his palette of colors and hues.
This crown was not just to be "okay", it was
to be a perfect match.

I did my homework and was happily referred to your office by several other dentists. For a dentist to refer a potential patient to another dentist implies more trust in that dentist than words can convey...it says a lot in just itself!

Your very warm and professional manner earned my trust and confidence from the first visit. Your ability and integrity was apparent and proven in subsequent visits. I was so impressed with the ease and professionalism of the visit that I suggested to my own dental office that we follow the same format , extending your level of comfort and professionalism to our patients.

My dental treatment required some crowns to be replaced and some new ones to be placed. Always having to be different, my tooth color was difficult to match and not within the usual and customary "normal" shades. Rather than just select an acceptable "standard" shade that would be okay, you took an extra step and had your ceramist sit with me to create a custom shade from his palette of colors and hues. This crown was not just to be "okay", it was to be a perfect match. This extra step took additional time from production hours for the office but you felt that my tooth color, even though a posterior tooth, was important enough that it needed to be perfect, not just acceptable...and so it was.

My crowns were seated...the color is great, the margins are wonderful, the bite is perfect, and the surrounding tissue was not traumatized, it is pink and healthy. This is quality dentistry! I would have expected nothing less from you!

Thank you, Dr. West, for caring as much about my dental health as I do. We can both take pride in your work! I am truly grateful and very happy that I "found" you , and look forward to many years of quality dental treatment and "growing old together!"

Sincerely,
R.D.

I've been coming to Dr. West ever since we moved here in 1985. I have a long history of lots of dental work so seeing the dentist has rarely been a pleasant experience, but Dr. West and his staff really changed my attitude.

On the professional side, Dr. West has done excellent dental work from fillings to crowns to recommendations for preventive maintenance. Vivian, who I see three or four times a year, has really helped improve my gums as well as shown me how to take better care of them. Gilda spent extra time helping me solve insurance problems for over a year now.

I can honestly say that I look
forward to going to the dentist.

On the pleasant side, Dr. West's office is a pleasant place to be. Everyone is happy and friendly. We trade family stories and share personal experiences.

I can honestly say that I look forward to going to the dentist. Dr. West and his staff provide the best of both worlds: professional excellence and personal comfort. Thanks you guys!

Yvette

Having moved from California from a mid-western city known as the "medical center of the Midwest," and leaving doctors in whom I had a great deal of confidence, I was skeptical and somewhat apprehensive of a "new dentist."

The 150 miles I drive every four months
for the expert dental care by Dr. West and
his staff I feel are worth the time and effort.

Instead, upon entering Dr. West's office, I was met instantly with a pleasant greeting and a very professional yet friendly team-work atmosphere, which allayed my fears and skepticism.

Scott, I've been seeing you as a patient for at least 20 years _ I can't imagine walking into anyone else's office. You've also listened to any concerns, answered all questions, been more than fair re: payments and had my total trust.

One of my lowest blood pressure readings
was in a dental chair, just prior to a procedure.

After hearing many horror stories of root canals and crowns, I admit I was apprehensive when my first ones were needed. But there was that trust. Your referral to the endodontist could not have been better. Their office staff as well as your own are always friendly, helpful and make me feel comfortable. I have total trust in their office as well. Unlike many patients, I can actually go to either dental office and truly relax in a dental chair! One of my lowest blood pressure readings was in a dental chair, just prior to a procedure!, and no, there was no drug or anesthesia used!

You're all great and I hope to see you for another 25 years as well.

Fondly,
JLG

For a life time I had discolored and toed-in front upper teeth. What a pain.

When Dr. West began doing what then was called "bonding", I was one of his first patients. Not only did they change me into a smiling person, but lasted far beyond the expected life. Photos of before and after were hung on the doctor's bulletin board, reminding with each visit the new smile.

Dear Dr. West,

Despite the fact that one always dreads going to the dentist, it is made much more pleasant than one would expect. His entire staff goes out of their way to put you at ease. I never thought I would be laughing in a dentist office. I have done so on many occasions because of the relaxed atmosphere.

I never thought I would be

Dr. West and his staff do their best to put you at ease and tend graciously to your needs. Hope you will be there Scott, in the same office for a long time to come.

Sincerely,

You are certainly to be congratulated for providing such a fine service to so many people, over so many years and in the same location.

Audrey and I certainly enjoyed the fine work you have done for us over the past ten, or more, years. To be able to say that we have enjoyed coming to a dentist is a rather remarkable thing, but you and your staff have made it that to us.

We appreciate your consideration
for our feelings, so that virtually
no pain is ever experienced through
the entire procedure.

From the time we enter your office and are greeted in such a friendly manner by your receptionist until our treatment is over we sort of feel right at home. We appreciate your consideration for our feelings, so that virtually no pain is ever experienced through the entire procedure. Audrey has particularly appreciated your patience in the problems you have had with her bridge.

You are to be commended for the fine staff you have maintained over the years. They all reflect your friendliness and expertise.

May the coming years be as blessed to you as the past twenty-five years have. May your practice continue to grow, and your friends increase.

Sincerely yours,
Guy and Audrey Duffield

Are you relaxed and at ease when your dental appointment arrives? You should be, and after thirteen years with Dr. West and his staff, I am satisfied and pleased with, not only the professionalism of all the staff, but the friendliness and kindness which is extended that commences upon entering the door. With this satisfaction and feeling of comfort that I have, I know that at my age of 75 that there will undoubtedly be some serious dentistry and I'm not the least bit concerned - I have an excellent dentist and staff to turn to who I know will take care of my dental needs.

Thank you for the past 13 years,

Dorothy Spears

This story explains why Dr. West is my dentist for the rest of my life.

My wife and I had gone out to a fancy dinner one Friday night. The evening lasted forever. When I arrived home about 11:15 PM, I went through my usual dental hygiene routine (taught by no less than one of Dr. West's dental hygienists). As I was flossing, a piece of the dental tape broke off between my teeth. I tried for 30 minutes using a whole spool of tape trying to get it out. No avail.

To make a long story short, Dr. West came down to his office at midnight to help me. To make matters worse, I had managed to get the floss out of my teeth five minutes after Dr. West had left for his office. Never the less he was still smiles when he saw me.

Sincerely & most appreciative,
Robert Turner M.D.

When I was a young girl all the good dentists had been drafted and I had a terrible experience with an inept dentist that scarred me for life _ that is until I met Dr. West! Just walking in the door to his tastefully decorated waiting room is a soothing experience. Lovely Gilda always has a ready smile to greet each patient. Lolly is so bubbly she relaxes you as you recline in the comfortable examining chair. Before Dr. West even starts a needle, he numbs the area with a Q-tip so even the needle doesn't hurt.

Even though Dr. West is not on my insurance
plan's provider list, I've still come back
to Dr. West and paid out of my own
pocket because he's worth it!

But what makes Dr. West so special is that he really cares about his patients! Even though Dr. West is not on my insurance plan's provider list, I've still come back to Dr. West and paid out of my own pocket because he's worth it! Two different dentists on my insurance plan said that they'd have to remove a permanent bridge in order to fill a cavity. Dr. West was able to fix the cavity and save my bridge (and money & time). He's up to date on all the latest techniques and procedures. If everyone was like Dr. West the world would be a better place!

Sincerely,
Sue Mack
